Ice Dance!

A variation on one of my favourite ever lifts.

I bet Lauri Bonacorsi has awesome abs.

Hurtado & Diaz may have all the attitude in the world, but that isn’t stopping a giant fuzzy cuff from eating her neck.

In news which should come as a surprise to absolutely no-one, the latest Israeli junior ice dance team, Ekaterina Bugrov & Vasili Rogov, are coached by Galit Chait.

Chock & Zuerlein are undoubtedly talented, but I’m not sure that we’ll ever see them contending for the really top medals.  However, Madison Chock appears to have the potential to be a great ice dance diva.  I’d like to see them move away from Canton so she could unlock her full potential, even if it does mean losing Shpilband’s behind the scenes influence.

Incidentally, Torvill & Dean’s ‘Farewell’ Tour (inverted commas now very much required) was my first live skating experience.  Sadly there was no guest appearance by Mr. Bean, but the Carmina Burana group number shown in passing was fabulous.

Your Junior World Championship ice dance medalists.

Some of the teams at Junior Worlds are so young and cute.  These are Cagla Demirsal & Bert Akalin of Turkey (both just turned sixteen according to their ISU bio) who are coached by Natalia Dubova.

Was this short on the University of Michigan campus?  Because it could double as one of those stereotypical ‘come and study here’ promotional photos.
